Jura House – Conditions of Let

 

 

1.     RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT When making a reservation please send a completed booking

Form with a non- returnable deposit of £250. Cheques should be made payable to Ardfin Estate.

The balance of the rent, together with a breakage and cleaning deposit (see below) of £200 must be

received at least six weeks before your arrival.

2.     PARTY LEADER The person who makes the booking is regarded as the party leader. This person will

be shown around the house on arrival by the housekeeper, Mrs. Mirjam Cool, and will be given any special

instructions to pass on to the rest of the party.

3.     HOUSEKEEPER The housekeeper will normally call every day, and is available to give advice and

information.

4.     SIZE OF PARTIES The house accommodates up to 15 persons including children.

5.     NON-RESIDENT GUESTS. If you plan to invite parties of non-resident guests during your stay,

please discuss this with the housekeeper before arrival. The house is not available for unusually large

gatherings.

6.    GENERAL CONDITIONS

(a)    It is a condition of let that, on departing, tenants make sure that the house is left in the condition it

is found - CLEAN and TIDY.

(b)    Nothing should be taken out of the house during your stay

(c)    Smoking is not allowed in the bedrooms.

(d)    Dogs are allowed by arrangement but must sleep in kennels.

(e)    The snooker table is available for use by guests. Please take special care not to damage the green

cloth by cigarette burns or otherwise. Avoid placing anything on the uncovered table, and supervise

inexperienced players.

(f)     Care must be taken to avoid inconvenience or disturbance to neighbours.

(g)    Please do not upset farm or domestic animals, and observe the Country Code.

7.     BREAKAGE AND CLEANING DEPOSIT The cost of any damage or extra staff time spent cleaning

or clearing up after tenant’s departure will be charged and deducted from the deposit. Please tell the

housekeeper if any damage occurs.

8.     ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Bookings are for full weeks from Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise

arranged. Tenants are responsible for making reservations on the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from the

mainland to Islay or on flights from Glasgow to Islay airport, and are advised to do this well in advance to

avoid disappointment. The ferry from Islay to Jura does not need to be booked, and is timed to coincide

with the arrival of the mainland ferry The letting commences on the arrival of the afternoon ferry from

the mainland.

Tenants must vacate the house by 9.00 am on the day of departure.
